About Us

The Island Bi-Design concept was created by Irene Read June of 2010. Read, a long-time money manager, real estate investor and mother of two envisioned a company creating innovative contemporary hand-carved teak furniture manufactured in Indonesia and Costa Rica. Designs which blur the boundaries between outdoor and indoor island life, are made from Guanacaste hardwoods and teak woods meant to withstand island and urban elements.

Read’s lifestyle, a Floridian with long family ties to Costa Rica, revolves around travel, the sea, boating and coastal living. In late 2012 Read will design, build and incorporate her custom designs of solid carved wood doors, over-sized teak furniture, steel sculpture, wood accessories into her dream Eco-friendly island home on the small island of North Captiva Island. This eco-friendly nature preserve island is only accessible by boat.

The vision for the collections is an infusion of sculpture and solid hardwoods making each accessory and unique piece of furniture a work of art. Custom designs and dreams are fulfilled at Island Bi-Design. Read’s focus is island living décor for residential, commercial, resorts and new homeowners who want to capture a taste of paradise in their own homes. Let Irene create an island oasis designed just for you.

Our latest collections, Island Bi-design and Island Bi-Design for Release Marine were launched at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October, 2010.
